The City and County take legal action on apts that left residents homeless after Florence

The Issue

The residents of numerous apartment complexes across the city were already in desperate need of repair prior to Hurricane Florence in September 2018.  The property owners and managers decided to use Florence as a scape goat to get funding to make necessary repairs that tenant rent, or government subsidy money should have been used for.  The majority of the damages that occurred AFTER the Storm were due to the neglect by property owners and managers.  If work orders are subpoenaed and other evidence you will see the complaints for repairs needed outweighed any other requests.  The city and county sat back and watched these apartment complexes one by one, close leaving residents homeless, having to move in with relatives, live in their vehicles, and some actually moved into their storage unit.  When government and elected officials were contacted requests for help were ignored, or we were simply brushed off.  IT IS TIME FOR SOMEONE AND SOME PEOPLE TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE ACTIONS TAKEN!!!!!!  We have gone broke, we have spent thousands on hotels, we still are not in a stable life or have a sense or normalcy since the storm and this is simply WRONG!!!  Realtors are being allowed to price gouge, or collect application fees from people they know they will not approve per “owner request” of the type of people they “want” to live in their houses or apartments!!!   It’s time for the people who have been suffering and people who are still living with effects of Hurricane Florence to get justice and proper compensation for the struggle we have dealt with while others are comfortable in their own houses and could care less.... PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION AND BE A VOICE THAT WE WILL HAVE JUSTICE FOR THE HORRIBLE TREATMENT WE HAVE ENDURED SINCE SEPTEMBER 2018!!

Thank you,
