Petition calling for the resignation of Smith Meyers as UF Student Body President
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
On the morning of March 7th, our newly elected Student Body President Smith Meyers was jailed after irresponsibly causing damage to property while intoxicated in Key West, Florida. This incident made national newspapers and reflected negatively not only on Mr. Meyers himself but also on the entirety of the University of Florida. Such behavior can and will not be tolerated from an individual who is tasked with representing over 52,000 UF students and who serves as a member of the UF Board of Trustees.
The position of Student Body President is one of honor and distinction, and it should be treated as such. The UF Student Body President, along with other members of the UF Student Government, must be held to the highest of standards as a result of the great responsibilities and privileges they are entrusted with in their important roles on campus. Mr. Meyers ran on a platform of "Character That Counts," and we feel in this instance he has let us--the UF Student Body--down.
Please sign this petition demanding the immediate resignation of Smith Meyers from his future position of University of Florida Student Body President.
Also please join us on Tuesday, March 14th at 12:30 p.m. at Turlington Plaza as we gather to demand that all members of the UF Student Government, who are tasked with representing each and every one of us, be held accountable for their actions. We will then proceed to the Dean of Student's Office to voice our concerns about the behavior of our newly elected Student Body President Smith Meyers and demand his resignation. #RealCharacterThatCounts
