The President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Anthony Carmona, received both housing and the housing allowance. He said at a press conference on September 28, 2016 that he was entitled to both and that he received permission for the allowance from the Salaries Review Commission. The Salaries Review Commission has since denied giving permission for the allowance. On the direction of the Commissioner of Police, The Anti-Corruption Investigations Bureau has launched an investigation into the issue of the housing allowance. We are calling on the Senate and the House of Representatives to begin the constitutional process for the removal of the President, so these investigations may proceed free of conflicting interests.
