Sweets Way ResistsLondon, United Kingdom
May 13, 2015
Today families and residents of both Sweets Way and West Hendon estates will be handing in over 200,000 signatures calling for leader of the council, Richard Cornelius to protect the people of Barnet - not push them out. There will be speakers from both campaigns before we head in to the full council meeting and face Richard Cornelius. If you can't be there with us then please tweet at @BarnetCouncil using the hashtag #ReclaimBarnet to stand in solidarity with us. We have also been notified that Barnet Council have made a statement on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/345382132326295/photos/a.345653242299184.1073741828.345382132326295/353619854835856/?type=1&theater They say that they have helped families get re-housed in Barnet. What they don't say is that most of these families have been put in temporary or emergency accommodation that is unsuitable. Please support us by commenting on their facebook post, tell them they have a responsibility to look after families of Sweets Way. That approving private development that destroys affordable housing during a housing crisis is reckless and irresponsible: Just click here and comment: https://www.facebook.com/345382132326295/photos/a.345653242299184.1073741828.345382132326295/353619854835856/?type=1&theater Barnet Council need to do better. Thank you for all of the support you have shown both our campaigns, without it we couldn't continue.
