A “Cryptid” is an animal whose existence has been suggested but has not been discovered or documented by the scientific community or by direct evidence.

Washington would be the FIRST state to designate Sasquatch/Bigfoot as a state Cryptid.

Right now in Washington State both Skamania and Whatcom County have laws protecting Sasquatch/Bigfoot. Washington should take the next step and designate Sasquatch/Bigfoot as a state Symbol. 

Washington leads all states in Sasquatch/Bigfoot sightings with 623 (http://www.bfro.net/gdb/ California is a distant second with 433. Our neighboring state Oregon has 243 and Idaho has 69.

Every state has multiple Sasquatch/Bigfoot sightings (except Hawaii) yet only Washington would have designated Sasquatch/Bigfoot as a state Cryptid symbol.

Is Sasquatch/Bigfoot real or not? Just about everyone has an opinion about that question. Washington could be in almost all those conversations as the state with Sasquatch/Bigfoot as its state Cryptid.

With Sasquatch/Bigfoot as the state Cryptid, Washington would enjoy the publicity that designation would generate.

Few people know the state symbols of states other than their own. However many, from across the USA, would remember Sasquatch/Bigfoot as the state Cryptid of Washington.

It would be a source of pride and just plain fun to have Sasquatch/Bigfoot as the state Cryptid.
