Dogs In India

In India, there are millions of strays who live in appalling conditions. It is a common sight to see a stray dog with a broken limb, ridden with mange and missing part of a tail. As a matter of fact, in the northern parts of the country, body parts of dogs are a common sight. Locals have turned to dogs as a cost-effective alternative to meat. A while back two men were arrested after being caught skinning a dog alive. It is estimated that 30,000 dogs are killed annually. The dogs are caught off the streets, beaten and their mouth sewn shut to prevent them from barking. The dogs are then starved and beaten to death before finally been cooked and sold to oblivious customers. In spite of a dog meat ban, authorities rarely take the issue seriously.
