Across parts of Asia, cats are being stolen from the streets — and even from people’s homes — to supply the brutal cat meat trade.

Many of the animals investigators find in holding cages are still wearing collars, clear evidence they were once beloved family pets before being taken by thieves.

The cruelty these cats suffer is horrific.

Some are boiled alive. Others are thrown into poultry de-feathering machines while still conscious, their fur ripped from their bodies as they scream in terror. In other cases, traders use blowtorches to burn the fur off their bodies before preparing them for sale.
