Investigations into the dog meat trade have documented animals being plunged into boiling water, blowtorched, or burned over open flames while still conscious. It is a deliberate killing method used to prepare dogs for consumption, causing extreme pain, terror, and prolonged suffering.
They are snatched from streets and gardens, crammed into cages or sacks, and transported for days without food or water. By the time they arrive, many are injured, dehydrated, or already dead. Those who survive face violent deaths designed to maximise suffering.
Illegal slaughterhouses operate knowing that the risk of serious consequences is low. Until investigations are properly resourced and prosecutions carry real weight, dogs will keep being trafficked, tortured, and killed behind closed doors.
