Friend,
Millions of donkeys are killed every year for their skins to supply the global donkey skin trade. An estimated 5.9 million donkeys are slaughtered annually, driven largely by demand for ejiao, a product made by boiling donkey hides for use in traditional medicine, supplements, and cosmetics.
Evidence from investigations and veterinary reports shows that donkeys suffer extreme cruelty throughout this trade. Many are stolen from families, transported long distances without food or water, and killed outside regulated slaughterhouses.
Despite the severity of this abuse, donkeys often fall into legal gaps and are not fully protected under animal welfare or livestock laws. This failure allows extreme cruelty to continue with little accountability.
Friend, add your name to demand that skinning donkeys alive is recognised as torture under the law and punished accordingly. Strong legal recognition is essential to enforcement and to ending this brutal trade.
