Others are forced to fight while high on cocaine, their minds and bodies pushed to the breaking point. All for someone’s money. Someone’s pleasure.
In a recent BBC Spotlight investigation supported by AWIP’s Investigations Team, we helped expose this brutal reality. And in July, my team and I carried out a raid in the Philippines just hours before a fight was due to begin — saving many dogs from that same brutality.
We have the people, the skills, and the reach to stop these rings but governments are not moving fast enough and too many dogs remain trapped and at risk.

In July, my team raided a dogfighting ring in the Philippines — just hours before a fight was due to start. We found dogs trembling in fear and their eyes pleading for help.
One dog was so badly injured she didn’t make it. Our team performed CPR — desperately trying to save her — but she had taken too much. We stood there in silence, holding her, promising that her death wouldn’t be for nothing.
