This is a truly heartbreaking story.
A couple of days ago, we got a call for help.
A mother dog and her tiny puppies had been abandoned in an outbuilding, locked away, left to die. No food. No water. Just waiting for the suffering to end.
We sent a rescue team right away, and when they arrived, they found Inay.
She was curled up on the cold ground, her body weak from hunger. But what stopped them in their tracks was the way she buried her face into one of her puppies. Holding them close, trying to keep them warm. She was suffering, but all she cared about was them.
A mother should never have to go through this.
I went straight to Jacob, our CEO, and told him what we’d found. “We have to do something”, I said.
He didn’t even hesitate. He just said, “How could we let a mother suffer like that? Rescue her and her puppies right away.”
And that’s exactly what we did.
The person who did this—who left Inay to die with her babies—cannot get away with it. We need a full investigation, and we need to make sure that whoever is responsible never gets the chance to hurt an animal again.
