Friend,
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, a man in Kyiv was charged with animal cruelty after he brutally kicked someone else’s dog in the head because the dog ran toward him. This disturbing incident was shared by the National Police in a press release.
Authorities report that the man was leaving a post office when a friendly Poodle on a leash approached him. In a violent reaction, he kicked the dog in the head, causing significant injuries. Thankfully, the dog has since received veterinary care.
The dog’s owner, who was outside the post office at the time, described her pet as affectionate and eager for attention. She recounted how her dog simply tried to approach the man, only to be met with an unprovoked attack. The dog sustained bruises and soft tissue damage from the forceful kick.
Police have identified the suspect as a 51-year-old Kyiv resident, who now faces animal cruelty charges under Part 1 of Article 299 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. If convicted, he could face up to three years in prison.
This cruel act must not go unpunished, Friend. Sign this petition to demand that the man receives the maximum penalty and is banned from owning or being around animals again. By holding him accountable, we can send a clear message that violence against animals will not be tolerated.
