Despite being illegal under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 in England and Wales, this practice persists, largely due to a legislative loophole that allows the importation of dogs with cropped ears.

Ear cropping is more than just an aesthetic alteration. It's a form of mutilation that has no benefits for the animal. Performed without proper veterinary care or anaesthesia, especially by irresponsible breeders looking to increase their profits, this procedure subjects puppies to severe pain and potential lifelong health issues.

Furthermore, it hinders their ability to communicate naturally with both humans and other dogs, impacting their social interactions and overall wellbeing.
