Today, we write to you with an urgent and heart-wrenching appeal on behalf of a horse who desperately needs your help—Reiley.
Reiley's story began when our dedicated frontline colleagues responded to an emergency call from a field in the South East of England. What they discovered was a scene of neglect and suffering that no horse should endure. With an infected wound on his legs that had been left untreated, Reiley's pain was unimaginable.
Taking immediate action to protect Reiley's well-being, the police, upon the advice of a veterinary surgeon, seized him under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Now, we are engaged in legal proceedings against his owner to seek justice for Reiley and ensure that such cruelty is met with consequences.
Since his rescue in March 2023, Reiley, a magnificent stallion, has been confined to box rest to aid in his recovery. Although he has received exceptional care from our trusted partners, it has become evident that Reiley's frustration is growing, and he requires a horse pen to safely release his pent-up energy and alleviate his distress.
Will you answer Reiley's plea for freedom by providing a horse pen for his daily exercise, Friend?
We regret that we are unable to share photos or his true name at this moment due to ongoing court proceedings. However, I implore you to imagine the severity of Reiley's situation and the immense suffering he has endured. The infected wound he bore was a harrowing testament to the neglect he faced.
The financial burden of providing the necessary veterinary treatment for Reiley continues to mount, as does the cost of pursuing legal action against his owner. These expenses are far beyond the reach of our current resources, but we cannot, and will not, let Reiley down.
