The act or practice of ending the life of a person or animal having a terminal illness or a medical condition that causes suffering perceived as incompatible with an acceptable quality of life, as by lethal injection or the suspension of certain medical treatments.

In 2016, two healthy and happy dogs were taken to the vet to be euthanized. These dogs did not need to die. Only two days prior, they were happily running around Newtown park, playing with all the other dogs. 

This is not ok and sadly this is a common occurrence. With the rapid growth of animal sanctuaries and successful pound adoptions, this is completely unnecessary and inhumane. 

Change in New South Wales Legislation  needs to happen today to ensure that a veterinarian does not legally have to euthanize animals at the request of their owner, and acts of animal cruelty and neglect that cause the death of any animal should incur a mandatory jail sentence. ( Beau's law ) 

We also need to have a pet abuse registry to ensure animal abusers are never allowed to own pets again!
