The Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation denied a request to consider changing the name of Nashville's Hadley Park on Tuesday 6/12/18.

Note: I believe that the attached article has the Hadley names confused. John L Hadley owned the land that the park is now on, was a former slaveholder, but made every effort to help his freed slaves succeed in the post-reconstruction South. Dr W A Hadley was a beloved African American physician who did not own the land (as the article states). However, the park may have been named for him instead.
Perhaps the confusion for whom the park was named: was it the remorseful former slave owner, or the revered black physician? is a fitting reminder of our shared history and fate.
