Please read the full update! There is urgent, important information at the end of this update.
I've received mostly positive feedback about the "Sleepless Night" in honor of Breonna -- for those that attend school or work, I was thinking that Friday night, July 10th would be best? Please spread the word, especially on social media! If this virtual protest goes well, I have a few more tricks up my sleeve. Remember -- the idea is to stay awake for one night, to honor Breonna, who was not allowed to sleep peacefully in her own home. During that time, we will upload videos demanding an honest, transparent, public investigation into the Louisville Police Department, as well as the charges and arrests of Brett Hankison, Myles Cosgrove, and John Mattingly. Be sure to tag Governor Andy Beshear, Attorney General Daniel Cameron, and myself (I will put these videos together into one single file, and submit the file to Louisville authorities). We will flood the email inboxes of the Attorney General, the Governor, and the Mayor.
I will remind everyone as the date comes near! For those that have asked -- there are reminders and updates on my social media -- my Instagram is @loraleihojay.
Lastly, and most urgently -- there has been another death at the hands of police. I have started a new petition: https://www.change.org/JusticeForBrandonRoberts
Brandon Roberts struggled with mental illness; he called police requesting treatment during a mental health crisis. His fiance clearly explained to authorities that he was not a danger to anyone but himself; there were no firearms in the home. Brandon simply needed treatment. Nonetheless, police knocked down his door, and within seconds, shot him to death in front of his family, filling his home with stray bullets. The officers responsible continue to work within the department, facing no repercussions.
Please read and sign the petition. Brandon Roberts deserved to live. His daughter will now grow up without a father.
