Don't take our space. Don't undermine our program. Keep our Park for our Community. NO RFP

The Issue

For 45 years, the Brentwood Soccer club has been serving the youth and the people of Brentwood and surrounding communities through their soccer programs and community support. The club has been providing quality soccer training at the Brentwood Soccer fields for 40+ years that the community has fought for time after time; and competitive opportunities for our youth while keeping the program affordable for all and assisting those less fortunate without making them feel they are handouts or second-class citizens.  The club has built a successful program that is regarded as one of the most recognized soccer program in the state that has contributed to the Brentwood School soccer team's multiple state championships and being the #1 public school in the nation twice over the past 11 years. Brentwood Soccer has been the beacon in this community not only to the kids but to the adults in this town. It has kept many kids off the streets and it provides our kids with a path so they can pursue their dreams and a leadership program where they come back as adults and give back to the community. The soccer club has produced many influential role models from coaches, teachers, guidance counselors, movie producers, successful business owners, professional athletes and coaches at the national stage.

Allowing a shameful group to take away from our children's home fields of 40+ years and undermine the Brentwood Soccer programs is disgraceful and detrimental to the hard work of the community for our children.  It shows a lack of concerns or respect for our programs, our children and our community. The Brentwood Soccer community is against the use of our community park and our soccer fields (TURF AND GRASS) already at capacity by any non-community organizations or programs whose self-serving agenda will cause irreparable damages to our existing soccer program. We stand with Brentwood Soccer Club and its program, a well-served and thriving community-based program to all, against all odds, for over four decades. We call for Governor Cuomo to rescind the RFP and not allow non-community groups to disrupt the children's existing program and expose them to more gang and drugs that our community has been fighting for years. A fight that the Governor himself promised to help us with including $15M for a Rec Center; how can he turn around and take from our community's limited resources, the park.
