It's been a month since we declared victory on this petition and the rights of pregnant and birthing patients and new parents are still being infringed upon in hospitals in New York and across the United States. We must ensure the rights of pregnant or birthing patients and new parents are guaranteed, even in the face of a pandemic.
You all helped get partners back into Labor & Delivery Units. Now I am asking for your help doing more.

Hospitals in New York are still not complying with the EO Governor Cuomo issued in March. Patients at some hospitals, like Woodhull in Brooklyn, are being forced patients to labor alone for hours. Many hospitals making partners leave shortly after birth. Other hospitals are denying support to COVID-19 positive patients. We cannot keep letting this happen. Please sign and share this petition.
If you know your hospital is actively preventing labor support or removing support after birth I ask that you please file a complaint with the DOH. - Hospitals across the country are actively separating parents and babies because of suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases. The WHO and CDC both recommend keeping families together. I know multiple families, including LaToya's, who were forced to separate. This is a traumatizing and dangerous practice and will disproportionately impact BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color for those on you unfamiliar with the acronym) families. Please sign and share this petition.
Policies forcing separation of families and chosen support, either during or after birth, and those that force separation of parents and their newborns lack evidence and will cause unthinkable trauma and increase suffering during this public health crisis. Maternal health and mortality does not end at birth. We must insist on keeping families together to keep them safe and healthy and to give babies the best start to life possible. We cannot continue to sacrifice birth, reproductive and human rights in the face of this crisis. Please help. Ensure access to support. Ensure new parents have the right to choose to keep their newborn
