It has come to my attention that many parents, doctors and schools are unaware of the upcoming bills up for this legislative session that would mandate vaccinations such as the HPV vaccination and the flu vaccination. There are supporting bills that would allow the HPV vaccination to be done in school as early as the age of 9 without parental consent and for the flu vaccination as early as daycare and every year following until age 18.

I was hoping the district could send out a letter to all parents making them aware of these upcoming bills, so they know what might be in store for their child if these bills pass. It is concerning to see how many people do not know and how our government does not inform us of such bills unless we do our research so we are reaching out to you for help in hopes you will send out a letter to every parent who deserves to know what changes may be happening regarding vaccinations and loss of parental consent.

The bills to include in the letter are as follows:

S4244B/A6564B- Permits any child who is at least 14 years of age to have administered to himself or herself certain immunizations required or recommended by law.

S2276/A2316- Relates to mandatory influenza vaccine for persons attending daycare.

S3899/A973- Provides treatment for sexually transmitted diseases to minors without a parent’s or guardian’s consent.

S298B/A2912A- Provides for the immunization of all children born after January 1, 2009 against the human papillomavirus (HPV).

A99- Relates to the removal of cases, contacts and carriers of communicable diseases who are potentially dangerous to the public health.
