A 45-year-old sex offender from Union City was locked up Monday for multiple violations of his supervision under Megan's Law, officials said.
Alvaro Tuero, whose address is listed as being on Manhattan Avenue, was convicted in 1999 of lewdness for touching himself in the presence of two girls, according to the New Jersey Sex Offender Registry.
According to the criminal complaint, Tuero failed to report to his parole officer, failed to reside at the residence approved by his parole officer and failed to refrain from the purchase, use, or possession of drugs.
Tuero also failed to participate in and complete a residential counseling/treatment program, failed to submit to a drug test, failed to enrolled in a substance abuse program and allegedly threatened his parole officer, the complaint says.
Tuero allegedly told the officer in Spanish, "Todo en la vida paga. Tu tienes familia." The complaint translates that as "You pay for everything in life. You have family, right?"
Tuero appeared in Criminal Justice Reform Court in Jersey City on Tuesday via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny.
