For the third consecutive time, Governor Cuomo vetoed the parole line-of-duty-injury bill. In his November 29, 2017 veto message #173, the governor stated: "I fully support the valuable contributions that State and local workers provide to New Yorkers, including those workers that perform important public safety responsibilities. However, it is well-established that these types of benefits are typically bargained pursuant to the Taylor Law (Art. 14 of the Civil Service Law), and not unilaterally imposed through legislation." Undeterred by the governor's third consecutive veto, we will continue our efforts to obtain much needed law enforcement benefits for NYS Parole Officers.
