Canton Stark County Metro Narcotics Unit officers were assisting Ohio Adult Parole Authority agents with a “home visit” at a parolee’s home Monday morning when the parolee punched a parole officer in the head, according to Stark County Jail records.
Then he ran away.
The officers went after Manranzano K. Grimes, 27, of 739 Ross Ct. NE, arresting him a short time later at 11:35 a.m. Monday.
Grimes was jailed on a parole violation and on felony charges of assault, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction records show he was on parole after serving a seven-year prison sentence for felonious assault with a firearm and participating in a criminal gang.
Grimes remained in jail Tuesday, held without bond.
