In answering the Governor's 2016 veto message (No. 239), the Public Employees Federation (PEF) plans on meeting with the Cuomo Administration and the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) in September 2017, to see if there is common ground regarding Line-Of-Duty-Injury pay for Parole Officers. In the Governor's veto message, he wrote: "This bill as drafted, raises the same concerns as the bill I previously vetoed two years ago. (Veto No. 516 of 2014). First, parole officers are already eligible for Workers' Compensation benefits provided under current law. Any modifications to this benefit structure are therefore more appropriately addressed in the context of collective bargaining negotiations."
