A remorseless lowlife convicted of shooting his parole officer flipped the bird to a packed Brooklyn courtroom Tuesday as he was hauled away to prison. Robert Morales, 53, extended two middle fingers with hands shackled behind his back after delivering a diatribe against Parole Officer Samuel Salters, who was seriously wounded in the April 2010 assassination attempt. "Not all parole officers are bad, but D--khead Salters and his partner — they don't deserve the parole officer title. They deserve to be here with me," said Morales, who was sentenced to 40 years to life. "They can eat a d--k." Morales, who had served 25 years for murder and was a model parolee after his 2002 release, said at trial that his new supervisor mistreated him and threatened to violate his parole. His only regret, he added, was that he only got one shot out before the gun jammed. "Apparently, this whole incident took place because the defendant didn't like the way Mr. Salters spoke to him," said prosecutor Lewis Lieberman. "I was in my office, I was doing my job as a parole officer and I was viciously attacked," Salters, who spent months in the hospital, told the judge. "I was the only parole officer to be shot in the line of duty and survived." The courtroom was packed with fellow parole officers and higher-ups, including Corrections Department Commissioner Brian Fischer. Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Alan Marrus imposed the maximum sentence for aggravated attempted murder. "This is the easiest sentencing decision I've had to make," the judge said. "There's not much to think about." Before obscenely living the courtroom, the defendant seemed resigned to his fate. "I know I'll never see the streets ever again," Morales said, "and I'm okay with it." By Oren Yaniv NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Tuesday, April 2, 2013
