Important new developments

Just some updates regarding the slow-going progress on changing this bill.
First, we'd like to point out other areas of NYS Bill 1421 that are also flawed, that were brought to our attention as a result of the petition attention. We are working to fix these issues as well:
"A. PRESENTED ALL SINGLE USE MATERIALS IN A STERILE AND SEALED PACKAGE,
THAT ARE TO BE USED DURING THE TATTOO OR BODY PIERCING PROCEDURE, TO THE
PERSON RECEIVING SUCH TATTOO OR BODY PIERCING; AND
B. OPENED ALL SINGLE USE MATERIALS THAT ARE TO BE USED DURING THE
TATTOO OR BODY PIERCING PROCEDURE INCLUDING NEEDLES, INKS AND OTHER
INSTRUMENTS IN THE PRESENCE OF THE PERSON RECEIVING SUCH TATTOO OR BODY
PIERCING."
This is yet MORE wording in the bill which makes no sense, and basically suggest that everything we use that is single use has to be presented and opened from a sealed sterile package.
The obvious problem is, that not everything we use is sterile, much of what we use is aseptic or clean, single use, but not sterilized (paper towels, barriers, ink caps, rinse cups, even water, where to do we draw the line??). This would basically require a surgery-worthy set up, which is yet another completely unnecessary, expensive requirement.
We met with Senator Carlucci and revisions (in both areas of the bill) are being drafted, however more meetings will be necessary to look these over. Initial drafts we were presented with would not have worked.
Senator Phil Boyle of Long Island, the Chairman of the Small Business Committee, who is has recently decided to join the fight on work on our behalf to help push an amendment through.
As a result, Senator Boyle has sent up a press conference to hear tattoo artists and shop owners at:
Cliff's Tattoo 1445 Middle Country rd, Centereach, NY
on Wednesday September 23rd at 10:30 am
While the shop can accommodate a large gathering, if you plan to attend, call the studio and have your name added to the roster 631-732-1957
Thank you EVERYONE for your support and spreading of this petition. It proves that if we come together, we can actually make a difference!
