Address high school uniform poverty

The Issue

HIGH SCHOOL UNIFORM POVERTY - LOGOED UNIFORM ITEMS

School logoed uniforms which can only be purchased from a school designated supplier are unaffordable for many families, especially those who live in poverty or that have a limited budget.

Families are facing “growing financial difficulties. Schools that insist on these logoed school-uniform items are forcing some parents to default on rent/mortgage payments, use food banks, obtain loans or seek financial assistance from other family members in order to purchase these logoed items.

Pupils face isolation if this strict policy is not adhered to even if the reasons are on the grounds of affordability. Affordability is NOT a displine matter.

Please sign this petition to stop schools driving parents towards 1 shop thus removing their ability to shop around for the best and most affordable and suitable option which meets the needs of each families budget.

Instead you are signing to support a good robust uniform policy where you can purchase the schools logo to sew or glue onto the uniform thus promoting financial inclusion and equality for all families.

Uniform policies need to ensure that uniforms are “universally affordable”.

Stop the school uniform snobbery now and help prevent uniform poverty and support your right as a parent to shop to meet your own budget.

Take action now and sign. You may be financially ok, but someone you know may not be. No one should have to choose between food and a uniform, or placing their home at risk, to buy a logoed uniform

UNIFORM POVERTY IS HAPPENING IN YOUR CITY, TOWN OR VILLAGE TODAY.
