Write your principal TODAY - 1:1 gone for grades 1-3, laptops for 6-8 next year IF THEY OPT IN

Arlington Parents,

1) We've just learned that APS principals can OPT IN to eliminating 1:1 for grades 1-3 and shifting from iPads to laptops for grades 6-8 FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR if they do so BY MAY 4! This is a big deal. If you have an elementary schooler, please write to your principal TODAY asking them to drop 1:1 for grades 1-3. If you have a middle schooler, write to your principal TODAY asking them to shift to laptops. It is in their power, and they just need to ask by the deadline. Laptops are better suited for writing, research, and purposeful academic use; iPads are basically giant iPhones.

Please SPREAD THE WORD! Tell your friends across the county to write to their principals NOW. If you have contact info for room parents or PTA folks, please reach out to them right away too. This is a full-court press with almost no time left!

2) Join the DMV Unplugged coalition if you haven't already! We're working together to bring back analog, face-to-face learning and to spark regional culture change when it comes to smartphones (landlines, delaying, and smartphone alternatives).

Thank you!
