I'm back in Canberra at Parliament House this morning and I could not be prouder to announce that both the Lower House and Senate have just officially passed Carly's Law. From today, it is now a federal crime for an adult to lie about their age when talking to a minor online, with the intent to meet that child. I'm just about to do a press conference with Senator Nick Xenophon (pictured with me just now!) and Justice Minister Michael Keenan to comment on how much this means to me. Not a single day over the past 10 years since Carly was murdered, have I gone without feeling immense pain and anger at her loss. My little girl was taken from me by a predatory monster at just 15. But today, I am comforted by an army of supporters, including all of you, that this crucial Law is now in place, in honour of my gorgeous girl. I can't stop thinking about what Carly would say right now - to have a federal law in her name that will protect the lives of thousands of innocent kids. My goodness, it's been a massive journey. Thank you from the bottom on my heart for helping me on this campaign, and I hope you are as reassured as I am that Carly's Law will be helping catch sick pedophiles before they harm our children.
