GOOD NEWS: October is when cash makes a comeback

Hi Cash Lovers,

Cash is about to make a HUGE COMEBACK in Australia.

When card surcharging is banned on the 1st October, most businesses say they will raise their prices or apply minimum transaction values to retail sales, according to research out today from Fifth Quadrant.

More than a quarter of businesses say they will encourage consumers to use 'lower cost payment methods.' That means shops are going to ask us to pay with cash.

Now, about 19% of in-person payments are made with cash. But when shopkeepers get slugged the full cost of accepting card and phone payments, everyone will be asked to pay with cash.
