Smriti Irani said Government is committed to support and protect every vulnerable child who lost both parents to Covid.

Reiterating some of our suggestions of uniform and more generous policy to help children orphaned during  COVID-19 :

1.    Provide inflation adjustment and increase support amount every three year as it’s long period of support for Special scholarship 

2. Extend Free education support till graduation or skill-building support for Children whose one parent has died due to Covid to ensure education cost doesn’t become burden to surviving Parent

3.     Encourage corporates to create a fund to support Children of their employee died due to COVID-19

4.     Add Supporting COVID-19 Orphaned children’s education/ scholarship as a permitted activity under the CSR Policy activities list ( Schedule VII) to help give it further impetus.

5. All state to have uniform policy and playbook to support Covid Orphans and support levels should be above threshold as some of the state has announced very low financial assistance/ support.
