Gerald Michael White is a well known colleague in the Inflight Services department of the pre-merged Company and retired from the services on 31/3/2005 as a Dy.Manager after putting in over 35 years of meritorious service. One of our finest cabin crew loved and respected by one and all.

However, unfortunately for him, his wife Ms.Virginia Germaine Juliet White had a fall inside her residence and admitted in the Hospital on 7/3/2023 and discharged on 22/3/2023. What was the total Bill paid by him - Rs.3,19,288/- only (three lakh nineteen thousand two hundred eighty eight only).

Upon submission of Bills on 3/5/23 for this amount, he got reimbursement of Rs.1,13,000/- in his Bank account and anxiously waiting for the balance of Rs.2,06,288/-

He is a Cardiac patient and admitted in the same Hospital which treated his wife, The Holy Spirit Hospital, Bandra Gymkhana on 3/11/23 and breathed his last on 4/11/23.

We as usual put out our condolence messages, but did we as a Organisation find out the agony, suffering and tension undergone by this family. Did we find out what was the talk he had with the General Secretary of the Assocn.and his response.Did we find out out what help he sought from the Assocn. These are matters that need to be studied to establish the connection between the Medical expenditure and financial strain on the retired employee as a result of withdrawal of cashless medical facility.

Hope we will rise to the occasion and find out the agravation that took place resulting the death of our this colleague.:

From R.Ramanathan.
