Our sons life was taken from us by a reckless driver.

The driver was found at fault 100% and has a history of reckless driving.

Stricter penalties and investigations needs to be in place when a drivers does not follow a traffic law and causes the untimely death of an innocent person. 

RECKLESS: (of a person or their actions) without thinking or caring about the consequences of an action

Not yielding to Will’s right of way was reckless thinking and a reckless act obviously with no concern of the consequences yet in Florida you can get a simple ticket for that! 

Imagine if this was your child? Your brother or sister or grandchild. 

In United States law, reckless drivingis a major moving traffic violation. ...Reckless driving is often defined as a mental state in which the driverdisplays a wanton disregard for the rules of the road; the driver misjudges common driving procedures, often causing wrecks, accidents and other damages.

The driver GROSSLY misjudged a common driving procedure! 

The laws need to change and no one seems to want to make those changes!

But we can! We can fight for those who are no longer here to fight and we can hopefully save more lives by doing so!

The way the law is written now has to be changed.

If a life is taken by violating a traffic law and the driver isn't visibly impaired or flea the scene, the punishment is a traffic ticket. Once in court the Judge can only impose up to the maximum penalty which is a ticket and a 6 months DL suspension. 
This is hardly a penalty for taking a life. The judge cannot take priors into consideration as the maximum is the maximum regardless.

We need changes to this flawed system. If a violation of a traffic law results in loss of life the investigation should be the same as one deemed criminal as well as allowing the judges more options for punishments for those who have prior violations. 

Your family and mine are on the roads with this driver and many others that are careless.

Taking a life should be more than a ticket!

We are asking you to sign our petition to force lawmakers to look into changing the laws between a simple traffic crash versus one that causes a fatality, when a fatality occurs the ability to bring forth stricter charges should be different than a simple fender bender and the investigations should be vastly different from the initial investigation down to making blood draws mandatory on ALL parties.

Don't wait until it is your loved one!!!

Starting with Wills case and including many others Florida needs to change the traffic infraction laws when it causes a fatality to no fault of the victim.
