Thank you for signing the petition in support of completing Amherst's segment of the Peanut Line trail. For four years we have been actively advocating at the town and regional level, and have conducted 12 group rides on the trail. We now have the attention of Councilmember Berger, and she is asking for letters to gauge the region's support of the project.
If you are an Amherst resident, especially if you live near the Peanut Line, or a non-resident trail user, bike group leader, business owner or community leader who can speak in support of the benefits that an improved trail will bring to the region, please write.
Amherst Councilmember Jacqui Berger has requested letters from supporters of the Peanut Line Multi-Use Trail to bring to the town board. She has explained to me that this would be the best way to demonstrate to the town that this is a priority among a majority of Amherst residents who will use and value the trail, as well as riders from other areas who see this as a crucial inter-regional connection.
It is imperative that our voices are heard over a persistent vocal minority of neighbors who oppose the improvement and are impeding progress. Councilmember Berger has suggested that 100 letters would make a powerful statement. Can we count on you to write? Please send your letters or email by Friday, June 3. The next meeting of the town board is June 6.
Please indicate in the comments below if you will be sending a letter so we can measure our response.
Thank you!
Councilmember Jacqualine Berger
