Hi all, we've had an outstanding rally of support these last two weeks. Thank you so much for your support!
Would you help us get more signatures by sharing this petition with ten other people on social? Facebook groups, SMS chats, Twitter, email and WhatsApp all work great. If more of us sign, we can’t be ignored!
We're happy to report that we're gaining traction - people are listening.
Our achievements and progress:
- 1000+ signatures on our petition
- 100+ letters sent to multiple state representatives, not including the 1000+ sent to the Armed Services Committee (the entity who oversees the DHA)
- INDO-Pacific Command (who oversees all Joint Forces Japan) is engaged and collecting feedback from those who experienced denials of care
- Teachers' Unions are working at the local, regional, and federal level
- U.S. Ambassador to Japan Emanuel has been contacted; as well as the State Department and Government Accountability Agency
Due to our efforts, Defense Health Agency has spoken to press twice - once to minimize the legitimacy of our concerns, and then again to admit their plan was never to allow civilians to access military hospitals and "we have to figure it out ourselves." Government agencies around the world are reeling from this declaration that they are immediately responsible for this logistical nightmare.
Let's be clear: DoD civilians do not want to force MTF resources and hard-working medical staff to absorb a population they cannot care for. We want all parties to be provided appropriate resources and communications to prevent unnecessary loss of life and preserve mission integrity across Japan. This means the DHA needs to reassess their arbitrary metrics that if they have extra appointments available (known as Space A), then they're overstaffed. This means they will punish military hospitals by stripping them of important manning until they are forced to effectively function understaffed and overworked.
Do you think military hospitals deserve better?
So do we.
Sign and share our petition to support total force readiness - tell Congress to roll back DHA's chokehold on MTF resources and manning.
