Stop promoting of CBT as a cure/treatment for Misophonia without research and proof!

Misophonia is a neurological condition that causes a fight/flight/freeze response to audial and visual stimuli. Currently, the media and some ‘researchers’ are touting “treatments” and “cures”. However, these cures have not been proven in the research, nor do they have conclusive studies that show a possibility of their benefits. Currently, most research that has been conducted on CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) has not even been published, let alone tested wide-spread.
There are a number of sufferers who have just learned that they have Misophonia. Many of these sufferers are being exposed through media sources that are picking up gossipy stories, and reporting what they believe to be ‘facts’. Unfortunately, promoting these methods as a cure, will cause patients that do not know otherwise to spend their hard-earned money on a ‘cure’ that may be potentially dangerous at worst, and ineffective at best. This may also cause for insurance companies to be billed without evidence - this will cause difficulties for Misophonia sufferers as they search for a cure, and they attempt to pay for it.
We ask that no more cures are presented until there is enough scientific evidence and ethically performed clinical trials to ensure the safety of Misophonia sufferers.
