Firecrackers have been the reason behind a number of animals dying, running away and getting hurt in a bid to find shelter from the smoke & noise. Not to mention the pollution it causes as well.

The government should levy a ban on firecrackers- they can be lit only in designated spots around the island - like in developed nations.

Mauritius already has a bad name with the way the strays here are treated. At least a ban on firecrackers will be a step in the right direction to show that we care for these voiceless animals!
