First of all, thank you very very much for understanding the importance of gender sensitivity in technology. It's because of amazingly perceptive and receptive people like you that petitions that are barely 500 words long bring change/s that span for the next 500 years. So, please know that I thoroughly treasure your support and I highly encourage you all to appreciate yourselves for being the "genuinely good" human beings that you're.

I'm sure in the past few days, you must have thought or been asked — "so what if Alexa is a woman?". Hence, I've come up with an elaborate answer to all such questions. Also, if you'd like to keep it short, sweet, and simple — please know that OUR campaign is NOT against any device or company — it's FOR responsible technology that is gender sensitive, not gender stereotyping. Like I'd tweeted earlier — 

We want Alexa but we don't want gender stereotypes in Alexa.

We want Alexa but we don't want her to be "female by default".

We want Alexa but we want Amazon to #ungenderAI so that it can usher positive social change.

Technology doesn't have to conform to/perpetuate/reinforce the existing gender disparities/stereotypes. So, let's create technology that inspires us to break the shackles of conventional gender norms.
