Gardeners and consumers, including vulnerable people, are being misled by fake seed listings on Amazon, including a product called “Giant Purple Teddy Bear Sunflower Seeds.” The problem is simple: this plant does not exist and cannot be grown from seed. It's a scam that started on social media.

Despite reports from multiple consumers, these listings continue to appear on Amazon, sometimes even as sponsored results. Reviews now include warnings from disappointed buyers who realised the product was impossible, including a heartbreaking review from a terminally ill woman who bought the seeds hoping to grow something special.

Online marketplaces should not allow clearly misleading plant listings to remain available after they have been reported.

This petition asks Amazon to remove fake seed listings and protect consumers from deceptive garden scams.
