To the Stargate Community,
By now, many of you have seen the news circulating online. It is with a heavy heart and shared frustration that I am writing to address the reports: the new Stargate series in development at Amazon MGM Studios has officially been halted.
After years of rumors, quiet development, and cautious optimism following Amazon's acquisition of MGM, we were all hoping to finally see the Chevrons lock once again. Unfortunately, due to shifting studio priorities and the ever-changing landscape of the streaming industry, the project is no longer moving forward.
What We Know So Far
While details from behind closed doors are sparse, it appears the cancelation was a business decision rather than a reflection of the franchise's worth. The entertainment industry is currently undergoing massive recalibrations, and unfortunately, Stargate was caught in the crossfire of these broader studio strategy shifts. It is incredibly disappointing, especially knowing how much passion the creative team and the fans have poured into keeping the dream alive.
We’ve Been Here Before
If there is one thing the Stargate fandom knows how to do, it is endure. We survived the end of SG-1, the bittersweet farewell to Atlantis, and the agonizing cliffhanger of Universe. We have spent over a decade keeping the gate open through conventions, rewatches, fan fiction, and relentless social media campaigns.
Our community is resilient. A studio's decision to pause development does not erase the rich, 30-year legacy of the franchise, nor does it diminish the demand for its return.
What We Can Do Next?
Now is not the time to dial down; it is the time to dial out.
- Keep Watching: Continue streaming the original shows. Viewership metrics are the loudest voice we have in the streaming era.
- Make Some Noise: Keep engaging on social media. Use our community hashtags, share your favorite moments, and let Amazon MGM Studios know that the audience is still here and still hungry for more.
- Reach Out: Polite, passionate letters to studio executives (like Peter Friedlander and the Amazon MGM Television team) still matter. Let them know we want a continuation of our beloved universe

This is a setback, undoubtedly. But the Stargate has been buried before, and it was always dug back up. The universe is too vast, and our fanbase is too dedicated, for this to be the end of the line.
Until next time, keep exploring.
