Hello Plastic-free Family-

We heard this week from Mary Scheller, a Master Recycler with Santa Cruz County, CA (as well as a Sanctuary Steward with Save Our Shores on the Monterey Bay). Mary is a petition supporter and an advocate for solutions to reduce plastic packing waste. 

She and her team are hosting a FREE webinar with a panel of experts (including Mary) discussing plastics in agriculture, from the field to the store to the bin. Below is the link if you wish to register or share out with your networks. 

This is a key topic and an important piece of the larger issue of plastic packaging waste.

With 90% of berries coming from their region, her team is actively seeking options to plastic clamshells. Sambraillo's ReadyCycle is a 100% recyclable container they are working with locally and they are in touch with Linda Fritz of Sun Sugar Farms whom we featured earlier. 

I look forward to hearing what the panel of experts has to say on the topic and hearing how they are approaching a solution to agricultural packaging waste. I'm sure there is a lot for all of us to learn.
