Change the name of "Big Beaners" restaurant and remove signs at owner's expense
Why this petition matters

Jesse Quackenbush, a local white attorney in Amarillo, TX, is opening a restaurant on June 19th, 2020 that will primarily serve burritos, Folgers coffee, and 3/4 pints of beans. The only problem with this is that Quackenbush has named his establishment, "Big Beaners". When looking up the definition to the word beaners, the first result is this: Beaner is derogatory slang for Mexicans or people of Mexican descent.
Quackenbush has been questioned on his intentions with the derogatory meaning of the name and he states “If anyone took the time to read the menu and look at the logo and understand it’s a kidney bean not an Abel Bosquez (president of the local chapter of the League of United Latin American Citizens) or some Mexican that’s bored at some committee,” said Quackenbush. “There's no racist intention, I’m not a racist, we don’t cater to racists, we don’t have anything to do with racists, so Abel Bosquez is simply wrong.” Quackenbush has also attacked people that have confronted him on social media stating that the people complaining were "WHITE talentless musicians, leftover Stanly Marsh Freaks, lesbians and gays between the ages of 20-30." The post has since been deleted, but screenshots remain.
This is an absolute embarrassment and disgusting display of blatant racism that is not worthy of a platform or revenue in Amarillo, TX. Quackenbush does not deserve our money and his xenophobic place of business needs to only be opened if there is a new name and sign. Don't allow our beautiful, multicultural city to be tarnished by this restaurant.
