Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders steps down!

Amid calls for police reform and abolition, Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders, who spoke on the necessity of body cameras on March 29th, and who kneeled with protesters this past Friday, has just stepped down and will formally leave his role as chief of police June 31st.

Today, they tell us of seven candidates who may replace him as Toronto's next chief of police: https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2020/06/08/seven-candidates-to-replace-mark-saunders-as-torontos-next-chief-of-police.html

What does this mean? It means there are moving pieces on the backend of the Toronto Police Dept., regardless of the reason, and the decision makers are shifting. In the above article, it states that the under the Police Service Act, the civilian oversight board appoints the chief of police. Do we get to have a say? Can we contact the civilian oversight board? This is all I could find: http://www.cacole.ca/index-eng.shtml

Pay extra attention to the news right now! There are moving pieces everywhere and if we have any say, we must ensure we take action!
