Dear All,
Some of you will have been copied in on a letter that Mr Sharma has sent to me, over 2 months after we handed the petition in and he agreed to a meeting (via the local press). It is sadly, a cut and paste from Conservative party policy and doesn't address the concern that as he and other DWP minister are pressing ahead with Universal Credit that the bedroom tax is now even more problematic than it was before.
A couple of people have contacted me concerned that he has not redacted my address in copying the letter to others. My understanding is that he has not broken Data Protection law in doing so, as my address is a matter of public record (I am a Reading Councillor). Therefore while it's not good practice I won't be complaining about this.
The next step is for me to reply and to request a meeting with him again. I will keep you updated and we will keep up the pressure.
best wishes,
Rachel
