Hi Friends and Supporters of Sarah,
Five years ago, your caring and passionate act of signing this petition and phoning officials helped change transplant laws and save children’s lives, including Sarah’s.
Today, Sarah is a happy, healthy teenager going to high school and enjoying a typical life, and we could not have done it without your help! Sarah agrees. “Without everyone’s caring, I might not be here today. I cannot thank them enough,” she told me. We are so grateful!
Together, Sarah and I wrote a book called Saving Sarah, which talks about our battle against the healthcare system. You may remember the story—Sarah had just days to live when our family learned that transplant rules restricting access to lungs based on arbitrary age restrictions meant Sarah’s options were limited. The injustice of the situation spurred us into action. We ultimately won in court, saving Sarah’s life and those of other kids in similar situations.
Here’s a link to the book on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2P1fXUs The story is told from multiple perspectives, including 10-year-old Sarah’s point of view.
