Firstly, we have a terrible signature rate. 1217 people viewed the petition page since it was created. Of them, only 169 people actually decided to sign (all of you guys!). Roughly 2 weeks ago we were gifted a free promotion by change.org of 625 view (resulting in 52 signatures or 30% of people that signed). If we subtract this from the total we get 117 signatures and 502 views from all of you guys sharing. This equates to less than 24% of people that look at the petition actually decide to sign it. This isn't bad in that there will obviously be people who don't sign, but the potential for more signatures is there! If you have already sent it to someone who hasn't yet signed make sure you ask them again.
Today in homegroup you probably all saw the presentation that the SRC gave. If you didn't then basically they said that the SRC have no input into the uniform changes and were not consulted at all. Don't worry about trying to convince the SRC, there's not much more that they can do. The school council is responsible for changing the uniform policy, not the SRC. Please stop annoying them, they're trying to help!
The school is pretty set on their minds of keeping the new policy. This doesn't mean that we're not going to be successful, but it does mean we need more support. It's probably unlikely that we'll have success before transition starts, but the more people we can get the higher the chances for 2025. If you need ideas for people to share it to who will have the most impact, here are some options:
- Class group chats
- Friends in the year level above/below you
- Any group chat/facebook page/etc. connected to the school
- Resend it to people who haven't signed it yet
Make sure you tell the people you share with to keep passing it on to more people!
