Well tonight, maybe the first night of some change

First, I want to thank you all again for supporting our student athletes. Tonight, I presented my proposal to the school board. I felt some were receptive and others less so, but I’m glad we started this conversation.

The reason behind this petition is simple: our student athletes should be able to show up and support one another. Three dollars may not seem like much, but it adds up. I believe encouraging our students to fill the stands and cheer for their classmates is worth finding a way to let them attend for free.

As I hinted earlier, I had another request to present tonight that I hadn’t shared yet. I submitted a Sunshine Law request for records of grants our athletic department has applied for over the past two years. My goal is to encourage our district to pursue more funding for facilities and equipment that help our student athletes train, compete, and reach their potential.

I want us to explore grant opportunities that support rural communities and schools serving lower-income families. We won’t know what funding might be available to us unless we look into the requirements and pursue those opportunities.

Alongside continuing to push for free admission for our student athletes, this is another goal I’m passionate about: helping our students get the equipment, facilities, and support they need to succeed.

Thank you for continuing to stand behind our athletes. Your support matters, and I’ll keep you updated as we move forward.
