Thank you again for your support of my petition!
The petition now has more than 150 signatures and I have met with Scott Britton, the Commissioner for the North Shore district of the Cook County Forest Preserve District. This meeting was really positive and led to me presenting to the full Board of Commissioners for the Cook County Forest Preserve downtown Chicago earlier this week. I was really happy and appreciative to be supported by Devin McAllester of Surfrider Foundation Chicago who also spoke in support of the petition. Thanks also to Scott Compton for written testimony. The Board of Commissioners was very receptive to our testimony and we appreciate their consideration. The Board has put us in touch with the Trail and Recreation Committee at the Forest Preserve District which gets us closer to getting a regulation change and hopefully implementation!
Although the petition is making good progress, it will not hurt for you to please forward this message or link for the petition to your friends and family who interested in watersports, supporters of equality in sports access, or are local outdoor enthusiasts. Remind them that they do not need to donate financially but signatures are valuable.
Thanks again,
Rob Cheney
