Hello all!  Thank you so much to everyone who has signed the petition. I really appreciate everyone's support. I wasn't sure how people would feel generally and I'm glad to know that the Sanderson community supports a return to a tradition that was taken away in 2019. I have shared your comments with the principal and other decision makers. No final decision has been made yet, but Ms. Drouhard is considering the issue again and is consulting with Chris McCabe, the area superintendent over Sanderson. I have also talked with Sam Hershey of the Wake County School board to get his support and will be talking with him again soon. While I think they mostly need time to reconsider, a few people reaching out while they are considering it would be good . Her email is tdrouhard@wcpss.net and McCabe's is northernarea@wcpss.net. Sam Hershey said he also welcomes feedback at shershey@wcpss.net. I think having current or recent students and parents makes the most sense because that is who was most recently impacted by this and who is yet to be impacted.
