O problema

I am a pet owner, like many others, who needs to bring my beloved cat to Australia. However, the current regulations prohibit pets on the cabin in international flights into Australia. This not only separates families from their furry friends but also puts our pets' lives at risk due to potentially dangerous alternative travel methods.

PETS ARE NOT BAGGAGE, THEY ARE ALIVE AND DESERVE TO BE TREATED AS A LIFE.

Pet owners spend so much money to be able to take them in the airplane, triple the money than any executive class in the airplane, but they are not treated as they deserve, they suffer, in the cold, dark, hours without food and sometimes without water, being trowing for one side to another, going through many different people and hands, left outside of the plane between conections bellow the strong sun, dehydrating, scared, weak, without the onwers, many of these pets do not survive. So we pay a very expensise money to make our pets go through this suffering to them be able to live with us, and very unsure if they will get in the destination or survive for all this suffering.

Australia's strict biosecurity laws are designed to protect its unique flora and fauna. While this is commendable and necessary, it's also important that we consider the well-being of domestic animals that need to travel with their families for various reasons.

This petition is for Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to allow the pets to travel safe, warm, and in the side of their owners in the cabin.

We have many suggestions to be able to meet all requeriments of safety, sanity, and cleaning with the pets in the cabin.

1- Strict tests, examinations and quarentine at home before  any flight to make 100% sure that the pet does not have any desease, sickness or anything that can spread for other people or pets.

2-Allow limited numbers of pets by flight in the cabin

3- The airline company make a small section that allow big port pets inside of the crate in the cabin floor, limited for example 4 big port pets ( 2 crates in the floor, and 2 crates on the top), like that airline company can fit all and will need a minimal space.

4- Any pet poo or pee inside of the crate need to be clean in the toilet immediately to do not smell. Alternative is to put nappy on the pet to make easier to change it in the toilet  (the same as you change a baby nappy with poo and pee)

5- People with any allergy from pets hair, can seat in specific row away from all pets, for example in all front rows, and people with pets in cabin should have specific rows for example all back rows.

6- Alternative is  an small section in the airplane cabin floor with all crates of pets of small and big port

We will find a solution for anything that come up, that will find as a issue, or any new requeriment. Together we will find the best way to satisfy everyone.

Many pet owners face difficulties when they have to move internationally due to work or personal reasons. The inability for pets to accompany their owners on flights can lead not only emotional distress but also potential health risks for these animals, and deaths. We already saw many cases in all world of pets dying from being crashed by bags, dying with cardio respiratory issues, others was lost in some part of the way and never found by the company.

We understand and respect Australia's commitment towards protecting its biodiversity and sanity. However, we believe there can be a middle ground where stringent health checks and quarantine measures are put in place for incoming pets be able to travel with their owner in the cabin.

We urge the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Australian government,  and airlines operating international flights into Australia to reconsider this policy. Let us keep our families complete by allowing our pets onboard with us while still maintaining biosecurity measures.

Some international airlines companies already allowed pets in cabin without maximium weight, but small port pets, so they are already doing it. To come to Australia these companies cannot allow as Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry do not let it happens yet.

Please sign this petition if you believe in keeping families together - both human and animal alike!
